Merseyside Civil service Club 7th November 1961

Heralded as "The Fabulous Beatles", the group makes their first of four appearances at Liverpool's Merseyside Civil Service Club. This was one of three gigs for the Beatles on this date as they had already played a Cavern lunchtime session, and would return there for a late night session after this gig. Little did they know that an introduction to local record shop owner, Brian Epstein, two days later at the Cavern would eventually lead them to unparalled, worldwide fame within two years.

New Brighton Tower 10th November 1961

The first of five 'Operation Big Beat' nights by promoter Sam Leach. As well as the Beatles the other performers were, Rory Storm & The Hurricanes, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Remo Four and Kingsize Taylor & The Dominoes. Not content with doing one gig the Beatles went on to do a gig in Knotty Ash a suburb of Liverpool the same evening.

"More Rocking To Merseyside's Top Six Groups" was promised to those who would attend the second installment of promoter Sam Leach's "Operation Big Beat" concert series. After A Casbah Coffee Club appearance, the group arrived for their 11pm set, and were joined onstage for two numbers by American soul singer, Davy Jones. The other artists appearing were Rory Storm & The Hurricanes, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Remo Four, Faron & The Flamingoes and Earl Preston And The Tempest Tornados.

Manchester Oasis Club 2nd Feb 1962

The Oasis Club was at 45-47 Lloyd Street and was the premier music venue in the early sixties in Manchester. The new Epstein influenced look of the Beatles all suited and booted for this first professional engagement outside of Liverpool encouraged the club to book the Beatles again. Liverpool Cavern Club 5th April 1962

This night was organised by the flourishing Beatles Fan Club at their regular venue of the Cavern Club. It was promoted as 'The Beatles For Their Fans' or An Evening With George, John, Paul & Pete'.

New Brighton Tower Ballroom 6th April 1962

The Beatles shared the bill on this evening with Emile Ford & The Checkmates and also on the bill was Rory Storm & The Hurricanes, Gerry & The Pacemakers, Howie Casey & The Seniors and The Big Three. It was the Beatles farewell appearance before their trip to Hamburg which lasted through the rest of April and all May.

The first of two successive nights at this Southport venue. Joe Brown's "A Picture of You" was riding high on the UK charts at the time. The song became a Beatles performance favorite with George on lead vocal. Oddly enough, Brian Epstein was assisted by original Beatle's manager, Allan Williams, both nights. Upon admission, the upper right corner was torn and the ticket returned to the patron.

Liverpool Lewis’s Dance 28th November 1962

On the evening of 28th November 1962 the Beatles played an evening session in the Cavern and then rounded the night off by playing the staff dance at Lewis's Department Store. The dance was held on the 6th floor of the famous Lewis's building on Lime Street with the venue being renamed the "527" Club for the night. As well as a session by the Beatles, music was provided by the Dee Valley Jazz Band and Pam. A very rare ticket indeed.

Birkenhead Majestic 15th December 1962

A historic event as the first-ever "Mersey Beat Poll Awards" and charity dinner was held with the Beatles receiving a trophy from editor, Bill Harry, prior to their taking the stage at 4am to close the event with a live performance. The recently ousted Pete Best, now a member of the runner-up band, Lee Curtis and the All-Stars, crossed the Beatle's paths as his band descended the stage giving way to the Beatles.

The start of a delayed 5 date tour of Scotland finally got underway in Elgin after the first tour date was cancelled the previous day due to bad weather. An ad from the local paper is all I have.
